Welcome to the FMProC (Family Medicine Professional Choices) exam, a situational judgement test written by and for family medicine practitioners in Canada.

For the 2027 residency selection cycle, ALL FM residency programs in Canada require applicants to sit FMProC for those applying in both rounds of CaRMS. Graduates of Queen's MDFM program applying outside of CaRMS to Queen's FM residency programs do not need to write the FMProC.

FMProC First Round

Registration:
Opens: September 10th, 2026 at 10 am ET
Closes: October 22nd, 2026 at 10 am ET
Test Window:
Opens: October 15, 2026 at 10 am ET
Closes: October 29th, 2026 at 10 am ET

FMProC Second Round

Registration:
Opens: February 22nd, 2027 at 10 am ET
Closes: March 8th, 2027 at 10 am ET
Test Window:
Opens: February 24th, 2027 at 10 am ET
Closes: March 9th, 2027 at 10 am ET

**THESE DEADLINES ARE FINAL AND NO REQUEST FOR LATE REGISTRATION OR LATE SITTING OF THE TEST WILL BE CONSIDERED**

ALL FM Residency Programs (except for Queen's MDFM program) require the FMProC for both rounds of the upcoming CaRMS cycle, but you only need to register, pay for, and sit the test, once.

How do I register?

1. Click on “Register”
   
   
2. Press “Create a new account”. Please fill in your CaRMS ID (in format of XX-111-XX-111), first name, last name, your email address that you would like to receive the test link at, and a password.
   
   
3. After you register, you will receive an email at the email address you have provided asking you to complete the registration process by clicking the link below. Clicking the link will confirm your email address and finalize the creation of your account.
   
   
   1. Please note that this link will only be active for 2 hours. If you do not click on the link within the allotted time, you will have to request “Resend Confirmation” on the login page on: https://fmproc.ucalgary.ca


4. After you finalize your account creation and log in, you will be able to pay for your registration. Click on “Make a Payment” on your home page, which will take you to the payment portal.


5. Enter your correct method of payment and press “Pay”


6. Once your payment has been processed, you will then be taken to an order confirmation page, and an order confirmation email will be sent to your email address.
   
   
   1. This order confirmation email is not your link to the exam. You will receive a separate email with the exam link according to the schedule below:
      
      
      1. For the first round, if you register and pay before October 13th, 2026, you will receive the test link on or before October 15th and thus will have the whole test window to sit the exam. If you register after October 13th, you will receive the test link within two business days.
      
      
      2. For the second round, you will receive a test link within 48 business hours of registering and paying for your exam.

7. After you receive your order confirmation email, your registration is complete. As described above, the exam link will be sent to you in a separate email.

Again, please take time to check the CaRMS ID you have submitted is correct.

Once you have registered, you will not receive any more communication from us until a few days before the test window opens, when you will receive the link to the test and some final information and instructions.

Please note you do not need to book any specific day or time to sit the test. Once you have the link you can access and sit the test at any time during the test window but we strongly advise not leaving this till the last minute.
